Tsering Lodrö
Tsering Lodrö (b. 1990), born in Zidong, Namulin County, Shigatse, hails from a distinguished Thangka family lineage. Shigatse, as one of the birthplaces of the Menri (Mensar) Thangka tradition, provided him with a deep cultural and religious foundation. From childhood, Lodrö displayed an exceptional passion for art, remarking: “More than eating, I loved painting.”
Guided by his elder brother, the renowned Zidong Thangka master Pingcuo Duojie, he studied iconographic proportions (measures), pigment preparation, and classical Thangka techniques. Over the years, he has taken part in numerous large-scale mural projects and fine Thangka creations across Tibet, blending religious solemnity with artistic vitality. Today, he stands as both a dedicated inheritor of the Zidong Thangka lineage and one of the most influential contemporary Thangka masters of his generation.
