Deji Zhuoga

Deji Zhuoga is a renowned female Thangka painter from Tibet and the 9th-generation inheritor of the Karma Gadri painting tradition. In the long history of Thangka art, female masters are extremely rare. Deji Zhuoga has been celebrated as “the female painter of the most beautiful Thangka faces” for her delicate brushwork, graceful lines, and distinctive style of facial depiction.

Trained within her family lineage, she has dedicated her life to the study and practice of Thangka painting. Her Buddha and Bodhisattva figures are characterized by dignified yet compassionate expressions, blending canonical accuracy with feminine sensitivity, offering viewers a sense of serenity and purity. For many years, she has chosen a reclusive path, focusing solely on painting as a daily spiritual practice, without engaging in competitions or exhibitions.

Her works are known for meticulous detail, soft colors, and flowing lines, and she has emerged as one of the very few women to establish a unique style in the Thangka world. Her pieces are highly sought after by collectors, often surpassing the market value of certified first-class Thangka masters. Zizaitang holds a significant collection of her miniature Thangkas, which have become highlights of its collection.
